How it Works

CHI Memorial Hospital, a TN-based Health System, utilizes the PointsMap App's internal navigation feature to help visitors navigate the facility's eight floors. With QR codes posted throughout the facility, visitors can easily locate exactly where they are inside the building, find nearby Points of Interest and easily navigate from any point to any other point inside the hospital using their smart phone.
You can use this PointsMap App Simulator to try Internal Wayfinding.

1 - Select Your Starting Point

   Tap on Guide me to: An Office of Medical Service
     Normally, to pick their starting point, a user would SCAN a QR Code sign like the ones shown here that shows them exactly where they are in the building and it would automatically be selected as their starting point.
Since you are using a simulator and cannot scan a QR code,
   tap on Choose from a List.
   All the possible destinations throughout the entire facility are listed below.
Tap on Filter by Category and Select Entrances.
Pick a starting point from the filtered list.
     For example: Select Entrance E - Emergency Services
You will now see your starting point indicated on the screen
Tap Next

2 - Choose Your Destination

     Choose Your Destination by selecting from a list.
   You can type your destination in the search field of choose from a list.
     Tap Choose from a List and then tap Filter by Category.
Select a Category, for example: Services
Select Cafeteria - The Cafe
     You will now see your starting point and your chosen destination listed.
   Tap Guide Me

3 - Follow Turn by Turn Directions

     Follow the Path
You now see your path drawn on the map. Simply Follow the Path and the Turn by Turn Directions step by step as you walk toward your destination. The turn by turn directions will include a green arrow, your walking instruction, and in some cases what you are walking toward or passing on your left or right. This helps you know exactly where you are in the building.
You can zoom in and out of the map to see the segments highlighted one step at a time as you click through the directions. You will see an arrow that indicates the direction you are facing and the next segment highlighted in RED.
After you walk the highlighted path, tap tne GREEN button and the map will rotate keeping the next segment straight in front of you and move the arrow to the beginning of that segment and display your next Turn by Turn Instruction.
   Continue this process step by step as you walk toward your destination.
   Along the way, if you wish, you can tap on any of the transparent icons displayed on the map and a pop up will display the name of that point. You can also tap on the camera icon and see a photo of that point so you can see what you are passing and confirm where you are. Tap X to close the pop-up.
Once you arrive at your destination, tap the STOP button in the upper right of the screen. You can then tap <Back to be returned to the Wayfinding Screen.
You can the tap Use other features of the app to go to the App Home Screen - OR you tap My Last Destination and Reverse to be guided back to your starting point.

Open the CHI Memorial App on your Smart Phone. At the opening screen,
Select Guide me to: An Office or Medical Service . . . then tap Scan QR Code and Scan thecode on the left.
Tap Next,
Pick your Destination Point by Filtering the List,
Select a Category of Destinations, then Select your Destination and follow the turn by turn instrutions and the highlighted path.
Tap the green NEXT button to move through the segments of the path. As you go you can tap on a point you are passing to see a photo and detailed information about the point to assure you that you are on the right path.

Physican Finder

PointsMap allows you to build, update and maintain a quick and friendly navigable list of all the area physicians that are associated with your hospital or even in private practice. Categories sorting them by specialty and location make it easy for users to find what they are looking for. Each physician can have a photo, address, phone, email as well as details about their education, background and affiliations. User can instantly get driving directions from their current location and navigate to the physicians office. Regardless of their location, your patients will be able to get the information they need quickly at their fingertips.

Where Am I and Guide Me Codes

QR Codes can be used to help your user find out exactly "where they are" inside the building.
They can also create a path with one quick scan from where they are to "commonly used" pre-set locations inside the building. These codes are "Guide Me" Codes.

Signage is created using QR Codes that when scanned with the PointsMap App will open the inside map and highlight exactly where they are inside the building.
Signs can be used at entrances, destinations, elevators, stairways and even outside of restrooms. Your users will never be lost again!

Guide Me QR Codes are "One Step" Codes that offer a customer a preset path from where they are to commonly used, popular destinations.
They simply scan the Guide Me Code for the proper destination and in One Step, the path is created and the first segment and walking instruction appear.

Your user can select from multiple floors inside their building and can pan and zoom the map. They can choose from "categories" of points and tap the points on the map to find out details about them.
These details of a point can include photos, descriptions and even links to videos and PDF's about the point. Every point on the inside maps can function like a "mini website".

Turn by Turn Directions

Watch the short video on the left to see how easy internal wayfinding is. Watch as a QR codes is scanned, a destination is picked and the App creates the path.
Your PointsMap App Smart Phone Users will get Friendly and easy to follow Step by Step and Turn by Turn Directions, highlighting their walking path Segment by Segment, instructing them which way to turn and even what they will pass on their left or right as they walk the Path.
As they tap the Green Arrow the next segment of the walking path will be highlighted and the next instruction will be presented.
It's Just That Easy! They can even plan ahead before they leave home by using their Desktop or Laptop Computer and find out where to park and which entrance is the best and closest to their destination.
